IOGTA is committed to addressing skills shortages in the Indian Ocean Territories.

We understand that finding quality nationally recognised training to meet skills shortage needs in remote localities such as Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands is both expensive and time consuming. IOGTA solves this problem by acting on behalf of local employers and community members to coordinate solution based training programs.

IOGTA is the leading provider of Nationally Recognised Training in the Indian Ocean Territories for businesses and private individuals. Nationally recognised training is any programme of training leading to vocational qualifications and credentials that are recognised across Australia. It includes studying at a public or private training organisation, completing an apprenticeship, certificate or diploma course.

What we do?

  • Work with local employers and community members to establish training needs

  • Source the best possible training solutions to meet these needs

  • Arrange and coordinate appropriate training programs

  • Enrol and process relevant paperwork

  • Provide quality training venues, with WI FI and smartboard technology

We are here to help!

Whether you have a specific training requirement, would like to arrange a skills audit for your organisation or simply need some training advice, the IOGTA team are here to assist.

Available Courses

IOGTA offers demand based nationally accredited training in the Indian Ocean Territories, either through our own registered training organisation or through partnership arrangements with mainland providers. We also provide non accredited training that help our communities to work more efficiently and gain some very necessary employability skills.

Enquire about our current list of available courses or view the Upcoming Courses through the buttons below.

Alternatively, you can browse our list of Training Partners or head over to myskills.gov.au to find the list of Nationally Recognised Qualifications, Units of Competency and High Risk Licenses you can complete.

Once you have a course in mind, get in touch with us about how we can facilitate your participation in the relevant course.

Course Prices

IOGTA is funded by the federal Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development, Transport and Communications to provide Adult Education and Group Training Services which subsidises most travel costs of the sub-contracted trainers and assessors who are conducting services on behalf of mainland Registered Training Organisations.

After the subsidy permitted under the Services agreement has been calculated, the remaining training costs such as the tuition and resource fees are split amongst the number of participants in each course.

This means each enrolment fee can be variable and dependent on the number of participants however IOGTA also benchmarks its course costs against comparable remote localities in northern WA to ensure competitiveness.
